The buyer is building a group of specialized businesses in fiber optics, telecommunications, and underground infrastructure, backed by well-capitalized investors from the construction and infrastructure sectors. We are seeking financially sound businesses in the underground infrastructure and energy transition sectors. The business, its name, and its employees will remain the same.

Based in Friesland, the group installs, maintains, and repairs fiber-optic and telecom networks. The group also specializes in trenchless technologies for the energy transition and rents out equipment. A permanent team of in-house professionals works for major telecom and infrastructure companies in the northern Netherlands and beyond.

The power grid will need to be significantly expanded and reinforced in the coming years. This requires precisely the skills that the group uses every day: digging, drilling, laying cables, and connecting grids.

What We’re Looking For

• Telecom and underground infrastructure: installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of fiber-optic and telecom networks; horizontal directional drilling (HDD), jacking, and rocket drilling; cable and pipeline installation for telecom, energy, and water; excavation and earthwork; welding, blowing, and measuring fiber-optic cables.
• Energy transition: expansion and reinforcement of low- and medium-voltage grids; residential and small-business connections (electricity, gas, water); transformer stations and medium-voltage rooms; grid connections for solar farms, wind farms, and battery energy storage systems (BESS); charging infrastructure; district heating networks.

Profile

• Revenue: €2 to 20 million, EBITDA margin: 10% to 40%
• Preferably in Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Flevoland, or North Holland; other regions are also open to discussion
• A core team of in-house experts and strong relationships with network operators, contractors, or telecom companies
• An owner who is willing to hand over the business and, if desired, remain involved—as an entrepreneur, adviser, or co-shareholder
• Plus points: VCA, BEI-BLS / NEN 3140 and 3840, VIAG, CKB, CO2 Performance Ladder, ISO 9001 and 14001, accreditations, or framework agreements. This is not a strict requirement: the group is happy to co-invest in certification.
