Buyer is looking for an established moving company with a strong foundation in private removals. B2C moving is at least as interesting as B2B; a business branch and/or storage activity is welcome but not a prerequisite. Important is a loyal customer base and a recognizable regional or local reputation.

Search criteria
The buyer is preferably looking for a company that meets the following:

• At least 25 years of company history
• At least 10 permanent field employees (movers, foremen, drivers; excluding planning/office)
• Own storage activity is an important plus
• Own or long-term rented business premises in a workable location
• Second layer of management (e.g. experienced foreman/business manager) to stay on after transfer
• Sales reason preferably retirement or succession issue

Location
The focus is on the Randstad area and western/central Brabant. For independent branch takeovers, preference is given to Amsterdam, Haarlem, Leiden, Den Haag, Rotterdam, Breda and Tilburg (and immediate surroundings).

Takeover forms
Besides independently viable branches, there is emphatic interest in smaller, established moving companies (from around €500k revenue) with a strong local name, which can be merged with an existing branch. For this type of "tuck-in" acquisition, profitability is less decisive; name, customer relationships and local presence weigh more heavily.

Preconditions tuck-in acquisitions
For tuck-ins, location is key: the business must be within about 15 km of an existing branch to accommodate staff. The minimum requirement of 10 permanent field staff and own premises does not apply here; a confidential discussion can quickly determine whether the location falls within the operating area.

Transfer and continuity
The buyer values continuity for employees and customers and strives for a smooth transition. A transition period of typically 6 to 18 months, during which the current owner remains actively involved, is negotiable.
