When Company Brokers first had contact with Antoine van Kasteren and he showed us his business, we saw an enthusiastic entrepreneur who, with his years of knowledge of optical sorting technology, had established a beautiful business where, in addition to refurbished machines, there was also an in-house developed line.
This machine, called the Xcalibur, had already been successfully installed at several sites in Europe to the satisfaction of various clients. Once people had seen the Xcalibur in action they appreciated the quality and functions of this machine that can be fully remote controlled. The sales of the refurbished machines as well as the other products and services continued, of course.
Despite the success of the Xcalibur, Optiserve saw that a larger market could be reached by seeking cooperation with another party. They were looking for commercial clout and to be part of a larger organization in order to gain new markets and larger customers.
When we met with Arie Verhoeven of VMB Automation, we saw a party that would fit seamlessly with Optiserve's needs. A major player in control technology that was looking to broaden their portfolio with their own product. VMB understood OptiServe's needs and saw opportunities to open new markets together and after some discussions the parties decided to enter into a partnership.
VMB Automation took a 50% stake in Optiserve at the end of January. VMB Automation and Optiserve intend to jointly boost the business in the short term now that their strengths have been combined.
