Marktlink Mergers & Acquisitions assists Paul Harkema of HPI with acquisition

Marktlink Mergers & Acquisitions guides Paul Harkema of HPI on acquisition

Description

Paul Harkema has acquired yet another business in the plastics sector with HPI Group. This time, Harkema came to an agreement with seller Willem de Koning to acquire Insigne B.V. of Bleskensgraaf.

With this year's fourth acquisition, HPI Group adds, among other things, new specialized cleanroom manufacturing processes to its offering for the production of plastics suitable for the food and medical industries. The latest transaction is part of a strategic buy-and-build strategy for the group under the guidance of acquisition advisor Marktlink Mergers & Acquisitions. De Koning will remain with the company as a director until the end of 2022.

Insigne BV

Founded in 1961, Insigne B.V. is a full-service plastic injection molding company, with its own design and development department and mold shop. The injection molding company, which employs a total of 40 employees, has 26 injection molding machines varying in clamping force. Combined with extensive 2k facilities and assembly capabilities, Insigne B.V. takes care of the customer throughout the entire production process up to the final product.

With 60 years of experience, Insigne B.V. has broad knowledge of all common (engineering) plastics, as well as with the processing of both hard and soft PVC. This gives the business a unique position within Europe. 'Insigne has a good modern factory with interesting expansion possibilities. With this acquisition we are adding both PVC and medical products to our range,' said Paul Harkema. 'With the acquisition we add specialist technical knowledge to our chain of businesses. With Insigne's cleanroom, we can now meet the high demands of the medical world even better.'

Fourth transaction HPI Group in 2021

For HPI Group, it is the fourth transaction of 2021. It began in January with the purchase of Geku Plastik. With this, the HPI Group opened the gates to the German market. In addition, Kunststofplus was acquired earlier this year and the former owner and also minority shareholder of Packpower was bought out by the Woerden-based business.

In previous years, the group also took stakes in Bema Plastics, BEMA BA, CKV Plastics, PET Innovators and Metron. The HPI Group thus operates across the full breadth of the plastics processing industry for chemical, food, medical, automotive & technical injection molding. With the addition of Insigne BV, the HPI Group will realize a collective revenue of more than EUR 50 million in 2021.

Huub Verbeeten of Marktlink Mergers and Acquisitions: 'The HPI Group is now delving into niches that are commercially interesting. Customers in the plastics industry often have creative ideas, but not the knowledge and skills to actually produce a product on a large scale.'

HPI Group's management team consists of Paul Harkema (CEO), Hans Lubbers (COO) and Rene van de Pot (CFO).
