Founded in 2012 by Alex Kind and Richard Vialle, One of a Kind Technologies (OOAKT) makes machines that can and see artificially and make their own decisions via lasers, cameras and sensors.
They are mainly used to control robots, quality inspections, measurements and identifications of food and pharmaceutical packaging. Customers include Danone and Unilever. Through subsidiary Crux Agribotics, formed from the acquisition of Beltech and Vimec, the agricultural market is also addressed. That business makes harvesting robots for greenhouse cucumbers.
In 2016 and 2017, OOAKT won the Gazellen Award for fast-growing companies. In 2017, the business was chosen by the Financieele Dagblad as one of the eight "New Champions," award for the most innovative and promising businesses in the Netherlands
GIMV, has taken a majority stake in OOAKT in June 2018. With the money, Ooakt plans to expand further, including internationally. By 2023, the business expects to double the number of employees (65 in 2018, mostly engineers) and triple revenue (eight million in 2018).
Jonker Advies has assisted Alex Kind and Richard Vialle with the sale.
