Bidfood and Zegro announced today that they have reached an agreement on a takeover of Zegro by Bidfood Netherlands. Both organizations have been successfully operating in the Rotterdam region for years and will continue to operate as independent businesses.
In this way Bidfood strengthens its position as catering wholesaler in the Rotterdam region. The takeover will still be submitted to the ACM for assessment.
Dick Slootweg, CEO of Bidfood, is proud of the agreement: 'For us, this beautiful and locally strongly rooted company brings a new dimension to our business in which both organizations will definitely strengthen each other in order to serve our customers even better. The acquisition therefore fits perfectly with Bidfood's objectives, which have a clear growth ambition. Moreover, Zegro is an organization that is very complementary to our own.'
Zegro's Managing Director Bülent Sel said, "Both businesses respect each other's position in the market. Together we will look at how we can further strengthen our position in the region, building on a strong foundation of two successful organizations.'
Zegro is a proud Rotterdam-based family business, which has passed from generation to generation for 50 years. Bidfood Schiedam has been active for years in almost the entire province of South Holland, where it has a strong position within a broad group of hospitality, catering and care accounts.
'Zegro's focus on the middle and high segment within the hospitality market is a nice addition to Bidfood's current customer portfolio,' said Matthijs Zorn, branch manager of Bidfood Schiedam.
William Domenech, commercial director of Zegro, sees new opportunities and possibilities for the future: 'With the scale Bidfood offers us, we can further improve the offer for our customers. For both organizations, the customer is always at the center and we do everything we can to increase their success.'
Bidfood and Zegro will continue to operate as independent businesses, obviously looking at what opportunities there are if the organizations join forces in the areas of logistics, digitalization and assortment.
