Amelink Advocaten - MessageBird

Description

Amelink Advocaten has provided legal assistance to the management of MessageBird on a $60 million investment by Accel, Atomico and Y Combinator. The investment is one of the highest investment amounts for a Dutch startup ever.

MessageBird is a cloud telecom company, which in recent years developed a platform to send text messages in bulk for (among other things) service purposes. MessageBird is operational in 146 countries and has contracts with more than 220 local mobile providers. MessageBird provides its services to Coolblue, Uber, ING, Telegram, Huawei, Heineken and the Dutch government with Amber Alert, among others.

Accel previously invested in Facebook and Dropbox, among others, Atomico was founded by Skype founder Niklas Zennström and previously invested in Klarna, among others, and seed accelerator Y Combinator has invested in Airbnb and Reddit, among others.

The investment raised by MessageBird will be used for aggressive expansion, particularly in the U.S. and Asia.
