The Group of Butchers, a fast-growing player in the meat processing industry, has expanded its stake in the Netherlands with the acquisition of family-owned Schouten Vleeswaren.

The Group of Butchers has been owned by private equity firm Equistone Partners Europe since 2017. With branches in Tegelen and Lottum, Schouten Vleeswaren is one of the leading producers of BBQ sausages.

Brothers Alex and Gino Schouten, who had previously taken over the business from their father Fred, will continue to work within Schouten and The Group of Butchers. Aeternus assisted the Schouten family in the sale to The Group of Butchers.
